Our Pain Thinks About Metaphors
‘Our pain thinks about metaphors’ was a creative workshop series for people with chronic pain. Together, we chatted, created, and speculated - imagining the potential of metaphor in our thinking about pain. Discussion ranged from how to craft metaphors that medical professionals understand, to cave men stubbing their toes, to imagined crip-communes in space.
The workshop series ran from July to September 2025. In total, I ran twelve workshops across three separate groups. From these workshops, I am now developing an essay to be published on Futuress, and a speculative fiction publication to be created in early 2026.
